FAQ

  • When are tours offered?

Tours are offered Fridays through Sundays at 10:00AM and 4:30PM. Click here to view and book tours.

  • How long do tours last?

Tours generally last anywhere from 1.5 to 2 hours depending on how leisurely we stroll. We will be walking anywhere from 1 to 2 miles with limited seating available during stops so please plan accordingly.

  • Where do we meet to start the tour?

For our Georgetown tour, we begin at Maman (1353 Wisconsin Ave, Washington, DC 20007). For the Cleveland Park Tour, we begin at the Upton Theater (3426 Connecticut Avenue, Washington, DC 20008). For the Alexandria Tour, we begin at the corner of King Street and N Fairfax Street in Market Square (300 King Street, Alexandria, VA 22314). Look for your tour guide who will be holding a bouquet of flowers.

  • How much do tours cost?

Our semi-private tours cost $45 and include a local guide and photos of your tour. Please note that tip is included in the price of your tour.

  • What happens if I'm late to my tour?

You better boot, scoot, and boogie yourself as quickly as you can as tours start promptly at their scheduled time. In the event that you are running late, please text at 703-239-3323 and we will do our best to accommodate you. We suggest showing up 5 to 15 minutes early to your tour but don’t be 15 minutes early to the 15 minutes early. IYKYK.

  • Are tours cancelled due to inclement weather?

A light misting? It’s on. Thunderstorms, blizzards, or ridiculously high winds? Nope. In the event a tour is canceled, an email will be sent out as soon as possible in order for you to make other plans that don’t involve taking on Mother Nature.

  • What should I wear on my tour?

As we do take photos on the tour, we welcome you to dress up a little! In summer, linen and breathable pieces with comfortable sandals is advisable. In fall, a uniform of straight jeans, knit sweaters, and boots can never go wrong. Check out our Instagram here for inspiration.

  • Are tours wheelchair and stroller accessible?

No, not all sidewalks and stops are ADA compliant, unfortunately.

  • How late can I cancel my tour for a full refund?

Tours may be canceled up to 24 hours in advance after which no refunds will be permitted. In the event of a genuine emergency (getting stuck behind the motorcade does not count), please contact me here.

  • When will pictures of tours be posted on the website?

Pictures are generally available 48 hours after your tour give or take how much caffeine I consume in the days following. Tour photos will be emailed via a unique link to the email provided during booking.

  • Where can I park for tours?

Street parking is available near the start of all tours but PLEASE pay attention to the signs. We have loading zones, residential parking zones, street cleaning days, moving permits, and events that all impact parking availability. Plan to be looking for a space and deciphering D.C.’s (and VAs) cryptic parking signs for at least 10 to 15 minutes especially on weekends.

  • Are there bathrooms available on tours?

Bathrooms may be available at local coffee shops or restaurants at the beginning and end of the tours but are not guaranteed. Additionally, trash cans are located in the major shopping districts and main streets but are sparse in the actual neighborhoods.

  • Are private tours available?

Private tours are available if you’d rather not fraternize with the hoi polloi. Click here to contact me about scheduling a private tour.

  • What languages are your tours available in?

Tours are currently only available in English.
